—————————— Athlete Spotlight December ———————————

To finish another year of Athlete Spotlight, we would like to introduce you to one of the dynamic Flemett duo who created our incredible CrossFit Townsville murals. Ray Flemett is a passionate tattoo artist, running extraordinaire and all round good bloke, we’ll let him tell you the rest...

Athlete: Raymond Flemett
Grew up where: I grew up on the south side of Brisbane mostly, but lived in a few other places very briefly. Townsville has been home for 5 years now and I can't see us moving.
Age: I'm 33 years old.
Occupation: I have been in the Tattoo industry for around 8 years now. I love what I do and think every CFTSV member should come in and see me for a cool tattoo.

When and how did you get started with us?
I'm not one hundred percent sure when I started, I do however know how I started. I was getting up most mornings and going to gym with my uncle, John Flemett. He was coaching me as I had no idea there was more you could do other than a bench press and bicep curls. I thought the other equipment in there was just so the place did not echo so much. I mentioned I wanted to try CrossFit Townsville and convinced him to give it a go. He actually got in just before me, but once I started I did not look back.

Favourite and least favourite WOD?
I'm sure it's no shock my favorite wod is anything with some running in it and multiple movements in between. I really like a long grind. My least favorite would be anything with double unders and push-ups, I'm just really average at both.

You recently created the new CFTSV murals at the box, what was the inspiration for these creations?
Yes, recently my Dad and I added the murals to the box. Dan and I have been talking about this for over 12 months. I think it started over a cold one at a Christmas party. We have some other ideas. To be continued...

You are a regular 6am attendee, what's the best thing about training with the 6am crew?
I do train most mornings with the 6am crew. When I'm not having one of my days off that seem to last a month. 6am is like a tight family inside the big family. Plus we are the only class that has a Saturday class.

What’s the wallpaper on your phone right now?
My screen saver on my phone is a pic of myself and my beautiful fiance at the rodeo that Townsville just hosted. My lock screen is a pic of all my kiddos down the Strand.

What are some of your other passions or hobbies outside of the CFTSV?
Outside of CrossFit is pretty much work, family and house renovation. Apart from that anything that's active. I'm also into anything that's fast and loud, I’m not to fussed and I'll give anything a go. I'm not one to sit still very long.

Please share with us your fondest CrossFit / CFTSV memory:
My fondest memories of CrossFit Townsville are Class Wars. I love the team spirit. I also love watching Friday night lights. Great to watch the top athletes in full form.

Thanks Ray for letting us get to know you a little better!
